The Preached Word – Pastor Deborah Valrie

Sermon Title: "The Lord has a Crown for You! Trials and Temptations"
Scripture: James 1:2-8

Sunday's message encouraged us to take stock of our current circumstances and recognize the trials and temptations we struggle with daily. Led by Pastor Deborah Valrie, the sermon centered on James' words to early Christians, reminding these believers to hold steadfast in their faith and grow in their spiritual maturity by living what they said they believed. His words on perseverance and relying on the strength of the Lord resonate thousands of years later.

Pastor Deborah's main points:
1. The Cost of the Crown is Unavoidable and Non-negotiable
2. The Cost of the Crown is Equitable!
3. The Cost of the Crown is Worth it!

Did you miss Sunday's sermon? Join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. as we celebrate in worship and hear another timely message from the Lord.

The Preached Word – Rev. Melvin Jones

Sermon Title: "Ain't Nobody Got Time for That"
Scripture: Philippines 3:13

Guest preacher Rev. Melvin Jones (Atlanta, GA) came with God’s word on his lips. From Philippians to Romans, he definitely gave us something to think about.

The three main verses he reviewed were:

  • Philippians 3:13 - "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before."

  • 1 Corinthians 10:13 - "... God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

  • Romans 8:31 - “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us”

Join us each Sunday at 10 a.m. and hear another timely, and inspiring, message.

The Preached Word – Pastor Tyrone Gordon

Sermon Title: “I Am Not A Victim”
Scripture: Genesis 21:8-19

He frees us from fear!

Pastor G has a way of helping you get a new perspective on an old story. The story of Hagar is so powerful when told as part of Sarah and Abraham’s story. But when the focus is basically on Hagar and Ishmael, then it becomes even more so. Hagar was dismissed from the camp and went off into the wilderness to cry and moan. But God! Yes, God took matters into His own hands and sent her back letting her know that she was not a victim, but a conqueror.

The three take away points:
1. Stop feeling sorry for yourself!
2. You are not alone!
3. You are more than conqueror!

It was a sermon that gave hope and a new understanding on trusting in God. Please join us next Sunday at 10 a.m. and hear another timely, and inspiring, message.

The Preached Word – Pastor Derrick Wright

Sermon Title: “What’s in a Name?”
Scripture: Psalms 10:1-3

Pastor Derrick stood before us and reminded us that God is called by many names. He shared 12 of those names including "Elo him," which means Creator. Some of the names many of us are familiar with such as Jehovah Jeriah, Jehovah Nissi, and Jehova Shalom.

The one name he included that we all name is the might name of Jesus! No matter the situation or the need, we know that Jesus is the name we all know! There’s something about that name.

Pastor Derrick did a great job. Please join us next Sunday at 10 a.m. hear another timely, and inspiring, message.
