“What's Up At TLC?”
The Lenten Challenge Calendar
Lent begins Wednesday, March 5. Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. It is a time when many Christians observe a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. The purpose is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ - his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial, and resurrection. Ash Wednesday marks the first day, or the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter (Sundays are not included, as they are days of celebration of Jesus Christ's resurrection). The last week begins with Palm Sunday, which celebrates Jesus' entrance to Jerusalem and people laid palm branches at his feet. The last day of Lent is Holy Saturday, the day before Easter Sunday.
